Yousif is an 11 year old boy, born in 2012, and is the youngest of 4 siblings total. Yousif lives with him mom after the father had passed away in 2018 due to a pre-existing kidney issue. Yousif has severe sickle cell anemia, and his blood sometimes drops to a level of 3, and has left school for these reasons. His sister, Roqaya (born in 2006), has suffered from stroke and needs monthly treatments. His other sister, Fatima (born in 2010), has poor vision in one eye and needs a corneal transplant in the other. The mother states that she is confused as to how the family is meant to live in these incredibly hard conditions. The family is significantly below the poverty line, in desperate need of a fied monthly income, and the children are falling behind in school and need lessons to reinforce their learning and help them catch up.

The mother wants to learn a profession in order to alleviate the financial situation of her family along with Roqaya, who wants to become a barber for these same reasons. Yousif’s family is in need of mattresses as well.
